From a first time diet plan customer

I don't know how this would compare to any competitors. I did do Freshly for a while (which I do not consider competitive) and Freshly food is infinitely better. I would say I liked perhaps 15% of the food, hated 20%, and the rest was what I expected from a diet food company (no taste as opposed to bad taste).

The worst thing about this company is the deadlines. They require 7 - 10 days to make any change in your plan. But they're only sending you a week at a time which means it's impossible to fairly evaluate where you're at and still make the change you want. Either they are blitheringly incompetent or just dishonest. They designed the system to charge you for a week more than you want.

The service and food is good

The service itself is good. Solid meals that pretty good. Low sodium, low fat, and low calories compared to others like factor 75. However, the shipping doesn't work for individuals like me who are very busy and have to plan to be home and put the meals in the freezer. The shipping gives a range if 4 days and the first two shipments were arriving on Saturday. Not sure if that's because I'm on east cost and they are shipping from Indiana.

They did a good job getting it here frozen and the food did taste well. If I could schedule a specific day every week it should arrive, then I would keep it. With such a range and sat deliveries it just doesn't work for me.

The food was terrible!!!

The food was terrible. Bland, watery, and slimy. I tried 2 weeks of meals (42 total) and only 2 or 3 were good. Costs a ton and you can get better frozen meals at the grocery store. Felt bad even offering the meals to the dog.

Looked and tasted like cheap hospital food

Disappointing food/meal, it both looked and tasted like cheap hospital food. The portions and the presentation look nothing like on their pictures. Their website is also outdated in terms of design/tech.

Rude, unhelpful customer service

The meals were ok but no real flavor just bland. Customer service however was horrible! While on hold they tell you (over and over) how their friendly helpful customer service staff will resolve any issues you're having but the condescending girl who took my call was neither. She was curt and rude and said things like "maybe you should read the terms again" and "if you ever use another meal company pay attention to the terms". I use multiple meal delivery services and have never had anyone be rude when I've called.

Nasty food. Broken packaging. Crap customer service.

I tried it for a week (10 lunch/dinners). One plastic tray was broken with black plastic shards in the food. The food actually tastes pretty good - but I have felt narsty each of five days after eating it. At the risk of being graphic but operating under a philosophy of "this has been my actual experience" - I've had gastrointestinal issues this week including gas, abdominal discomfort, and unpleasant changes in my bowel habits and, honestly, the products. I honestly feel unwell this past week. Certainly I have not controlled for all possibilities or done a randomized control trial; so there may be other explanations for my discomfort and sickly feeling. I canceled my subscription after one week - got a confirmation on the website indicating that my last box of "food" would be this week. I then got *another* charge for the following week. I emailed customer service and they indicated that they had no record of my previous cancellation. So, I'm stuck with this week's box of nasty food I don't want and, even though I canceled my subscription on the website, I got the bonus of paying for yet another week of nasty food that I just cannot eat. I will say their dry ice keeps the food cold and the cardboard sleeves on the meals are sturdy. Those are the only two positives I can come up with.

Easiest prepared food diet I have tried

I have trouble with diets in that I have to add so many items. This includes everything needed to eat in one day. Couple of pounds down already. Food is pretty good, couple of items on the spicy side but can always remove items you don't like and change the menu every week.

A life changing experience

I'm autistic and stressing about what to eat is.. well.. stressful. My husband cooked for me every night but I gained weight and wanted to be on a healthier diet. I love BistroMD. I was actually scared to try it because of negative reviews but I'm glad I did. I personally have liked all the meals and especially breakfast. I feel full and can hardly finish my meals. The snacks are great. A huge bonus is that I can now easily prepare my own meals and my husband can have a break. I'm very happy.

If I order some food, can you easily stop a subscription to their foods? I might like it but I might get easily bored of the food and I don't want a long term commitment.

A:

No, you will be charged for 1-2 additional full deliveries before they acknowledge your cancellation. Don't trust the online cancellation either, you have to have proof you cancelled.
